Palaeoshells in the XVIII UISPP world congress

Renata Martínez-Cuesta presented an oral communication in the UISPP world congress (International Union of the Prehistoric and Protohistoric Sciences) held in Paris (France) between 4-9 June. The communication was titled “Shell ornaments from the Aurignacian and Gravettian levels at La Viña rockshelter (Asturias, northern Iberia): a technological and functional approach” and also co-authored by Igor Gutierrez-Zugasti, Solange Rigaud and Marco de la Rasilla.

 

Solange Rigaud visits the IIIPC

Last March, Solange Rigaud, CNRS researcher at the University of Bordeaux (France), was visiting the IIIPC. During her visit, she was working with Renata Martínez-Cuesta and Igor Gutierrez-Zugasti on the analysis of personal ornaments from the Upper Palaeolithic sites of La Viña (Asturias) and El Mirón (Cantabria). Solange also gave a talk at the University of Cantabria entitledBeyond the subsistence system: how symbolic productions influenced the mobility of the last Magdalenian foragers”.
